چکیده

Detachment experiments have been carried out in the linear plasma device Magnum-PSI by increasing gas pressure near target. In order to a proper detailed analysis of mechanism behind momentum and power loss detachment, quantitative match is pursued between B2.5-Eunomia solutions experimental data. B2.5 multi fluid code Eunomia Monte Carlo solver for neutral particles, they are coupled together provide steady-state solution distribution space. input parameters adjusted produce close replication beam measured without any puffing target chamber. Using this as an initial condition, exclusively increased during simulation, matching pressures experiments. Reasonable agreement found electron temperature simulation results with measurements using laser Thomson scattering The simulations also reveal effect on current, effectively reducing current penetration from source. capable reproducing detachment characteristics, namely along magnetic field reduction particle heat flux neutrals will allow future studies exact contribution individual plasma-neutral collisions energy Magnum-PSI.

Quantitative Comparisons of DIII–D Turbulence Measurements to Gyro-Kinetic and Gyro-Fluid Turbulence Simulations

Experimental turbulence and transport characteristics in DIII–D plasmas have been compared with similar quantities calculated from gyro-kinetic and gyro-fluid turbulence simulations. Turbulent radial correlation lengths ∆r from DIII–D L–mode plasmas scale as 5 to 10 ρs (ρs = ion gyro-radius evaluated using the electron temperature) and are independent of the poloidal magnetic field. Comparisons...

Fundamental measurements with muons - View from PSI

Muons can serve as probes to precisely determine fundamental parameters of the Standard Model or search for ‘new physics’. The high intensity muon beams at the Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI) allow for precision measurements and searches for rare or forbidden processes. Both types of experiments challenge the Standard Model in a way complementary to high energy physics. We give a short overview of...

Btdf Measurements and Ray-tracing Simulations Comparisons for Prismatic Glazing

Evaluation of solar heat gain and daylight distribution through complex window and shading systems requires the determination of the Bi-directional Transmission Distribution Function (BTDF). In this paper, measurements and ray-tracing-based calculations are compared for the specific case of prismatic daylight-redirecting panels. The latter have been chosen as a validation example because they c...

Comparisons of Nonlinear Toroidal Turbulence Simulations with Experiment Comparisons of Nonlinear Toroidal Turbulence Simulations with Experiment

The anomalously large thermal transport observed in tokamak experiments is the outstanding physics-based obstacle in the path to a commercially viable fusion reactor. Although decades of experimental and theoretical work indicate that anomalous transport and collective instabilities in the gyrokinetic regime are linked, no widely accepted description of this transport yet exists. Here, detailed...
